What this site is
depressionuk.co.uk explains depression in adults in plain language: what it is, how it is diagnosed, the treatments available in the UK, and where to find help. It is written for people who think they may have depression, people already being treated, and friends, family and colleagues who want to help.
This is an information website. It does not diagnose, treat or give personal medical advice, and it cannot respond to emergencies. If you need help now, see urgent help.
The link with Happy Clinic
This website is run by the owners of Happy Clinic and links to Happy Clinic for readers who want a private psychiatric assessment or medication review. Pages include booking boxes that link to Happy Clinic’s website.
Consultations are provided by Happy Clinic, which is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This website itself provides no clinical services.
Happy Clinic offers private online psychiatry by video with GMC-registered consultant psychiatrists, for adults aged 18 and over across the UK. Happy Clinic does not provide talking therapy, see children, or provide emergency or crisis care.
The information on this site is written to be useful whether or not you choose private care. It explains free NHS options, including NHS Talking Therapies self-referral, alongside private routes. See seeing a psychiatrist and fees.
